What’s BeArt?

Manufacturing

In this phase, the construction of the object takes place - a vase in this case - the raw clay is shaped and modified according to the creative needs. This is followed by drying and the passage into the kiln for the "first fire" that gives life to the terracotta.

Works upon request

Part of the work carried out within BeArt, concerns the realisation of objects made according to the specific request of a client (from design objects, dish sets, party favours etc etc). In this case, the two lamp holders were made taking into account the wishes and needs of the customer who was able to verify step by step the creation of the chandeliers. The customers will have unique, practically custom-made items for themselves.

Wearable ceramics

Ceramic jewellery finds its place among vases, plates and bowls. Earrings and necklaces like stones polished by the sea or obsidian, but unexpectedly light.

BeArt

An ancient alley, unexpected vegetation and a silence that welcomes and embraces you. In Catania, at 17 Via Monte Sant'Agata, "far" from the hectic Via Etnea, you will be surprised by BeArt, an artisan atelier in the colour of the sea, a gentle smile that knows how to invite you to discover its hidden treasures. It is here that Beatrice Emmi works with an ancestral material, mother clay, allowing it to take on the most original forms. Crossing the water-green threshold of this floating place is a precious opportunity to take with you the memory of a contemporary Sicily, far away from any stereotype: artefacts that are able to amaze, evoking the depths of the sea, the island silences, the traditions of the table of a Sicily that is lost in time. It is not just ceramics, but a journey into the land of an artist capable of blending emotions and art.
A sophisticated little shop where the art of ceramics is revived thanks to Beatrice's sensitivity and taste. It is one of my favourite shopping destinations because Beatrice, a ceramist, but also a painter and illustrator, offers not only classic Sicilian ceramics, but also handmade objects created thanks to her passion and experience. Absolutely recommended for a visit.

I first discovered Beatrice's work during a holiday in Sicily many years ago, long before the idea of BeArt took shape. From Moor’s heads to Christmas decorations to design objects (including paintings), over time I have packed everything. Each time hoping that back in London they would all be in one piece.... And luckily they're all still here with me, just like the travels during which I bought them: all unique pieces, with a special beauty. Because each one has its own story, which Beatrice's poetry brings back to life every day…
